Ashley and Tim’s wedding at Owl’s Hoot Barn in Coxsackie, New York, redefined rustic luxury. As an Upstate NY wedding videographer, our team at Fairytale Studio was deeply inspired by the raw, natural beauty of this 1800s homestead. Documenting the day allowed us to focus on the authentic, high-vibe energy that filled every corner of the property, creating a luxury wedding film that the couple will look back on for generations.

A Picture-Perfect Shabby-Chic Landscape

Owl’s Hoot Barn features weathered wood tones, an iconic vintage teal VW bus, and vast, tree-lined grounds sliced by a winding creek. There is so much detail to shoot we didn’t know what to record first.

During the reception, the historic timber barn was transformed into an ambient, upscale haven. The venue tables perfectly balanced the shabby-chic setting, decorated with elegant arrangements that contrasted beautifully against the rustic wood. Above, the warm overhead lighting cast a golden, romantic glow across the entire space, highlighting the timber rafters.

The true showstopper of the evening was the couple’s first dance. As Ashley and Tim stepped onto the wooden dance floor, a thick layer of atmospheric haze swept across the room. It created a magical “dancing on a cloud” effect, perfectly catching the light and enveloping the couple in a dreamlike mist that made their first dance one of the most visually stunning, cinematic highlights of the entire film.

Ashley and Tim utilized a nostalgic audio guestbook where guests left voicemail messages directly on a vintage telephone. Our cinematic approach focused heavily on collecting these deeply personal soundscapes – Heartfelt congratulations, Emotional blessings and Uproarious laughter and cheers from family members and friends. From their beloved dog joining the cocktail hour festivities to the couple sharing quiet moments by the barn doors, the day flowed seamlessly between high-end style and rustic comfort, culminating in an absolute powerhouse of a reception dance floor.
